Good morning.
We talk so much about red flags. The warning signs. The things that should’ve sent us running. There are entire TikTok subcultures built around spotting them faster, leaving sooner, protecting yourself better.
And okay. Valid. Important, even.
But lately I’ve been thinking about the other list. The green flags I walked right past because I didn’t know what I was looking at yet.
The friend who always picked up the phone, even when I called too late. I didn’t know that was rare until it wasn’t there anymore.
The job where my boss actually explained the “why” behind every decision. I thought everyone worked like that. They don’t.
The relationship where I never had to explain myself twice. Where being understood felt ordinary instead of miraculous.
I think about this during draft season, actually. Every April, teams spend so much time on the risk assessment — the medical flags, the character concerns, the tape that worries them. And some of them miss the player who just… makes everyone around them better. Quietly. Consistently. Without needing the spotlight to do it.
Green flags are quiet. That’s the whole thing. They don’t announce themselves.
So here’s my morning question for you: what’s something good in your life right now that you might be taking for granted? A person who shows up. A habit that’s holding you. A situation that’s actually working.
Notice it today. Say thank you for it, even just to yourself.
The green flags deserve the attention too.
Drink your coffee. Have a good one.
