Late night Wawa runs aren’t really about snacks.
They’re about relief.
They’re about getting out of your head when your thoughts won’t settle. About fluorescent lights and familiar aisles when everything feels a little too heavy to sit with.
There’s something comforting about being awake while the world is quiet. Same parking lot. Same doors. Same order you’ve gotten a hundred times before.
It’s not indulgence. It’s regulation.
Sometimes you don’t need a solution. You don’t need a breakthrough or a deep conversation. You need motion. A change of scenery. Proof that life is still happening outside your anxiety.
A short drive can do that. Music on low. Windows cracked. The feeling of doing something small but intentional.
We don’t talk enough about these in-between coping moments. Not everything has to be healed immediately. Sometimes you just need to get through the night.
Healing isn’t always journaling and self-reflection. Sometimes it’s a hoagie, a drink, and a drive home knowing tomorrow is still waiting for you.
And that counts too.
