The Seattle Seahawks held it down at home to pull out a back-and-forth victory over the Los Angeles Rams, 31-27 to punch their ticket to Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots.
The Seahawks struck early (and often) with a quick touchdown drive in the first quarter, outgaining the Rams 147-69 in the opening frame to set an aggressive tone at home.
Quarterback Sam Darnold led a 12-play, 56-yard march resulting in a Jason Myers field goal, briefly restoring their lead before it became a scoring match. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was a powerhouse for the team, helping extend drives and catching a crucial touchdown before the half. The defense blitzed heavily, not letting up for the Rams at all.
Seattle opened the third quarter with a Sam Darnold-Jake Bobo 17-yard touchdown after a muffed punt return by the Rams, extending the Seahawks to a 24-13 lead.
The Rams responded, and so the Seahawks struck again with former Ram, Cooper Kupp on a 13-yard touchdown.
The Rams responded yet again, forcing the Seahawks to score again, both teams combining for over 50 points.
To get to their 14-3 record, the Seahawks had a stifling defensive unit that ranked highly in key categories, forcing turnovers and sacks throughout the season – smothering another NFC West rival, San Francisco 49ers, earlier in the playoffs.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba set franchise records while Darnold continued showing poise and exorcising past demons in big games.
The Seahawks are historically tough to beat at home in the playoffs, and tonight’s match was no exception. The energy in Seattle was unrivaled. Both sides of the ball were strong, and now the explosive offense and opportunistic defense will face Drake Maye and the Patriots.
The Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026 for Super Bowl LX.
