There are days when motivation is nowhere to be found. Confidence is quiet. Self-doubt is loud.
That’s when the alter ego steps in.
An alter ego isn’t fake. It’s intentional. It’s the version of you who does the thing anyway. The one who speaks clearly, walks taller, finishes what she starts.
You don’t need to feel ready to act ready.
Athletes do this all the time. Performers too. They step into a version of themselves designed for pressure.
So can you.
Give her a name if you want. Give her rules. She doesn’t overthink emails. She doesn’t shrink in rooms she belongs in. She doesn’t wait to feel confident.
You’re not lying to yourself. You’re practicing.
Eventually, the lines blur. The alter ego becomes familiar. Then permanent.
Sometimes growth looks like pretending, until it doesn’t.
