They don’t call it the “No Fun League” for nothing. The NFL is nothing if not fine-happy to its players, as if the multi-billion dollar organization isn’t mooching off of streaming services.
The NFL is just not good at political stances. Full stop.
They try to cater to as many people as possible. Once shunning Colin Kaepernick to writing “End Racism” in end zones across the country, the NFL really should just stop trying to be something it’s not.
So, the NFL encourages players to be more than just football players nowadays. You can see that with partnerships, broadcasting opportunities, and other ventures.
The one thing they hate, however, is a statement made on someone’s uniform.
Texans linebacker Azees Al-Shaair received a hefty $11,593 fine (not sure how they even come up with these numbers) for wearing eyeblack with “Stop The Genocide” on it.
Seriously, $11k for that?
Despite the fine, Al-Shaair stands firm in his activism.
“If my platform can bring even a little hope to families in Palestine, then that is what I want to use it for,” Al-Shaair said.
Way to go, NFL, you proudly stand by one side of this issue. Maybe you should focus on not hiring your referees off the street and focus on things that really matter.
