A brisk evening in Maryland brought a crucial game for the NFC East title. The Philadelphia Eagles, coming off of their first win in a while last week, took the win today against the Washington Commanders, 29-18.
The Eagles came into this game almost grasping back to back NFC East titles. Following a slew of issues that led to three straight losses, it was clear on Saturday how the Eagles needed to win: with the whole team.
No stats were pretty, but 10-5 sure looks lovely for a Philadelphia fan. Jalen Hurts went 22-for-30 for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Barkley ate. Bigsby got a touchdown. All of the receivers got the ball.
No division game is pretty, and a fight was surely brewing this entire game.
With about four minutes to go in the game, after a Bigsby-Barkley eight point score, tensions flared with Commanders’ Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin and Eagles’ Tyler Steen were in in the thick of it — later being disqualified from the game.
Order was restored quickly, and the Eagles closed out the win. Post-game, Barkley commented that the teams “don’t like each other,” highlighting the bad blood.
With this win, the Eagles are repeat NFC champions for the first time in about 20 years.
Fines will follow for the three players, with others potentially pending.
