Darius Slay drama provides temporary Eagles relief

The Philadelphia Eagles sit pretty at 8-4, and yet, are also apparently spiraling downhill fast.

To make a long story short: the Eagles have struggled the season after their last three Super Bowl appearances – and still managed to make the playoffs at least, so let’s chill for a second here.

But right now, something very fun (for probably Eagles fans only) is happening.

Super Bowl Champion and Former Eagles CB Darius Slay got cut from the Steelers after an offseason departure from Philly. After 10 games, Slay racked up nine interceptions, three pass deflections, and one fumble recovery along with 28 solo tackles and eight assists.

He got cut on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and then picked up by the Buffalo Bills just a day later, after Eagles fans were certain he’d make the return.

Instead, he and his wife, Jennifer, infamous for her banana pudding, crushed their hearts – for 24 hours.

Thursday, Dec 4, NFL insider Tom Pelissero announced that Slay is contemplating retirement and will not show up in Buffalo.

But for what it’s worth, Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles are persistent.

The idea of Slay returning to the Eagles would provide a low-risk but low-change boost to the defense. It would be beneficial for the Eagles to bring back another veteran to rally the locker room after they’ve struggled offensively.
