Former Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Darius Slay is once again on the move – sort of.
After being cut from the Steelers, the six-time Pro Bowler was picked up quickly by the Buffalo Bills off of waivers, where a lot of fans speculated he’d return with the Eagles just a few months removed from their Super Bowl win.
NFL Insider Tom Pelissero announced on Thursday, Dec 4 that Slay will be contemplating retirement and not reports after being claimed off waivers just one day prior. The Bills retain his rights for now should Slay change his mind.
This season, Slay has nine interceptions, three pass deflections, and one fumble recovery as well as 28 solo tackles and eight assists. Last year, he had 14 interceptions, 13 pass deflections and 39 solo tackles – clearly still able to play despite having a down year.
While Slay could retire, he could make another move, per Ian Rapoport.
The Eagles and Slay could get their reunion after all.
If Slay is still playing, he’ll be apart of the Eagles-Bills matchup on Dec. 28.
