The update and upgrade both drop Jan 15, 2026.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

  • Features enhanced graphics and higher resolution
  • Includes JoyCon mouse controls, built-in microphone and CameraPlay
  • Up to 12 Switch 2 online players on an island

3.0 Update

  • Resort Hotel’s Grand Opening: Kapp’n’s dock will feature a new resort hotel run by his family with the goal of bringing more villagers to the island. The gameplay is similar to the Happy Home Designer expansion pack. Trade hotel tickets for souvenirs and rare items.
  • More Convenience: upgrade to 9,000-item storage and craft multiple of one DIY.
  • Resetti’s Cleanup Service: clean up one area, the whole island, or just the beach with Resetti’s new convenient cleanup service, making decorating a breeze.
  • Slumber Island: Decorate up to three islands with full customization options including selecting the time of day. Then, invite your villagers or other online players to play with on your island.
  • Upcoming Collaborations: The resort hotel will feature retro Nintendo toys and gaming systems. If you have a Nintendo Switch Online account, you have the option to play retro games. LEGO furniture will be available to shop in the Nook Catalog. Amiibo collaborations that will bring new villagers and furniture come from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon.

Those who do not have the game at all can purchase the Switch 2 Edition game, whereas those who have the game can purchase the upgrade pack. The 3.0 update will be available to everyone.
