Pilot

In a flashback by Rue explaining how she didn’t remember much from ages 8-12, the boy that pushes past her is young Nate Jacobs.
Stuntin’ Like My Daddy

While in her bedroom, Jules can be heard watching the tenth episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, “I Won’t Rely on Anyone Anymore”. The scene she was watching can be viewed here.
Made You Look

This particular episode received a lot of backlash due to the Larry Stylinson animated smut scene. It was unknown at the time if either Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles gave consent for the scene to be aired. But eventually, Louis Tomlinson confirmed via Twitter that he had not given any type of consent.
Shook Ones Pt. 11

“Shook ones” in the context of the song refers to individuals who may seem tough and resilient on the outside, but are also quick to crumble.
The episode’s title is likely a reference to several interactions between characters in the show: Cal being panicked around Jules at the fair, McKay telling Nate he and Cassie aren’t dating, Cassie confronting McKay about it, Maddy who’s physically assaulted by Nate, Jules who’s blackmailed by Nate, Nate who finally admits feelings for Jules and kisses her and Kat who’s left hurt after she mistakenly believes that Ethan was flirting with another girl.
’03 Bonnie and Clyde

The title of this episode is a reference to the 2002 Jay-Z and Beyoncé song “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” from his seventh studio album, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse.
The Next Episode

During the scene in which Rue and Lexi intimidate Troy, Rue enlists a bunch of supposed friends she made in rehab, the names she mentions are actually just characters from The Wire.
The Trials and Tribulations of Trying to Pee While Depressed

When Tyler is being booked in the beginning of the episode, a title screen reads “Saturday, October 31”. However, the first season is set in the fall of 2018 and Halloween fell on a Wednesday that year.
When Jules stands on the platform, an LED board reveals the date when the scene was shot – “Sat May 11 7:50 PM” (2019) – however, as noted above, the action takes place in the fall of 2018.
And Salt the Earth Behind You

The grand musical finale was filmed in Disney’s infamous Golden Oak Ranch cul-de-sac.

It is revealed that Rue made up the scene where she and Jules get matching lip tattoos that say, Rules.
Fuck Anyone Who’s Not a Sea Blob (Jules’ Special)

Hunter Schafer, said in a Q&A on the show’s official Twitter account that: «Sea Blob» it’s whatever you wanted to be, but in my head when we were coming up with the idea for the title I was thinking about this deep sea creature called the “Sea Angel”, which is like this is gelatin blob with wings that kind of just like flaps around in the water, that’s what it goes in my head.[5]
Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door

The flashes of the characters as the New Year begins is intended to evoke the feel of a photo taken during a party, acting almost as portraits.

The title of this episode is a reference to the Hall & Oates song of the same name from their 1984 twelfth studio album, Big Bam Boom.

This episode possibly takes place around January 24, 2019.
In the bathroom scene where Cassie has her “meltdown”, she states she hooked up with Nate three weeks and 3 days ago, which was Monday, December 31, 2018, the Season 2 premiere.[2]
You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can

While reflecting on her romantic relationship, Rue and Jules are depicted in both artistic and cinematic love scenes as part of a brief montage. These include: Jules posing as Venus in the 1480s painting The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli. Jules modeling in the style of Frida Kahlo’s 1943 Self-Portrait as a Tehuana. Jules is portrayed having a picture of Rue on her forehead in this episode.

This is based on the conversation at the beginning of this episode and the fact that decorations from Maddy Perez’s birthday party were still on some furniture in the Howard house.

Javon Walton, the actor who portrays Ashtray, described this episode as intense, devastating and extremely shocking.
According to PopBase, Javon Walton revealed that Fezco was the one that was supposed to die in this episode, but the script was rewritten a day before the last day of filming began.[2]
