Tom Brady is no short of an NFL legend and anything he says about the NFL comes from a place of complete wisdom in the game. He can be objective and really grasped being able to explain the game to non-football players.
But if I had to challenge the G.O.A.T. of the NFL, it has to be right now.
The Las Vegas Raiders minority owner recently sat down with fellow broadcaster, Cris Collinsworth and Pro Football Focus for an interview ahead of the upcoming season.
Brady revealed one thing that he believes is an important aspect of football: celebrating with your lineman.
“When a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, I actually watch to see who he goes and celebrates with,” Brady said. “Because what did I do? I looked for my offensive linemen every time.”
Obviously, nothing wrong with that, but my response would be the team should not celebrate at all.
The job isn’t done until you win the Super Bowl, and even after that, you’re back to 0-0.
I like Brady’s thought process here, but you don’t get praise for doing something you should be doing anyway. Touchdowns are Imagine running around the office and celebrating after making a sale.
Obviously, silly comparison, but you get the idea.
I don’t want to see athletes celebrating except in THESE circumstances:
- Super Bowl touchdowns – everything matters here.
- Blow-out games – you have every right to celebrate if a team sucks that bad.
