FanDuel saves Eagles kickoff weekend despite Septa issues

You don’t tell fans of a Super Bowl-defending team who is about to play against a deeply-hated division rival to kick off the NFL season to just “stay home.”

Like, do you actually think Philly fans will listen?

This is what the Lincoln Financial Field official X page posted on Tuesday following the ongoing SEPTA issues in Philadelphia.

Where about a million people could’ve stepped in to temporarily fix the SEPTA cuts and transportation issues, FanDuel actually stepped up on Wednesday afternoon to make sure Eagles fans are set for gameday.

“FanDuel has stepped up to provide resources to help fully restore service on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line [B] for Thursday, September 4 so that Philadelphia Eagles fans can safely and efficiently get to-and-from Lincoln Financial Field for the home opener,” the statement read.

Thanks to FanDuel, fans will have free rides home from the game. The free rides begin at halftime to the end of the game. Otherwise, SEPTA will run regularly scheduled subway trains, plus sports express trips before and after the game.

Though this solves a temporary issue for Week 1, Philadelphia’s transportation department will need to figure out how to service more than 70,000 fans each week for the upcoming football season.
