With a little bit more than two months before the beginning of the season, the Miami Dolphins hopes of making it to the playoffs remains high. However, for many players, this could be their last season with the team.
Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith are two Dolphins players who still need to figure out their situations before the start of the season.
On the other hand, this year, Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier are on the hot seat.
If the team fails to make the playoffs and continues its poor performance from last year, fans will demand their release.
Apart from the Dolphin’s general manager and head coach, another person who needs a great year is Tua Tagovailoa.
This is a make-or-break year for Tua Tagovailoa
The Dolphins quarterback is entering his sixth year in the NFL, and the fan’s patience with him is deteriorating. People expect results from their QB.
It’s been demonstrated that when Tua plays all 17 games, the Dolphins have a real shot at getting to the playoffs. However, that only happened last year, 2023.
Competing head-to-head with the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East. Fans thought that was it. The next year, things would get better, and Tua would prove he belonged among the franchise’s top QBs.
But a concussion on week 2 against the Bills changes the scenery. After that, social media and sports shows questioned if Tua could lead the Dolphins to the Super Bowl.
And there is some truth behind the critics. During his five years in the NFL, Tua completed all the games in the regular season once.
Tua Tagovailoa has the potential to be a key player for the Dolphins. But his inconsistency throughout the season, combined with a series of injuries, has led many to view him as an average quarterback.
A franchise like Miami cannot afford to pay a player a large salary if he does not perform as expected on the field.
Like everything in life, if you don’t prove your worth, people will move on and start looking for a replacement who can deliver what you’re not.
It could be Quinn Ewers or someone else, but if Tua doesn’t step up this season, the Dolphins will look for a QB who brings real value.
