The Philadelphia Eagles’ ‘tush push’ play has gotten more attention this offseason than the actual Super Bowl LIX champions themselves. After a proposal by the Green Bay Packers to ban the play, the vote failed to reach 24 votes needed to no longer see the infamous 4th-and-1 play.
One of those 24 teams was the Buffalo Bills, who were both against the play while running the same play last season. It’s safe to say there’s still some confusion on how the Buffalo team feels about it, considering they benefited from the play.
With the Bills having the quarterback sneak benefits since 2021, quarterback Josh Allen had a real defense for the play in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.
“I’m a big believer in if you can’t stop it, keep running it, right? I think that there’s a few teams that do it better than others, but then you look at a few teams that try to do it, and it doesn’t have the same success.” he said.
“I understand the merit of what it brings… But I feel like if you can use it to your benefit, use it to your benefit. If you don’t like it, my advice is to stop it.”
Allen truly stands by his take as the Bills attempted a tush push in the AFC Championship, where the Kansas City Chiefs would later win that game.
