Once a respectable news station focused on garnering fun sports conversations for Philadelphia sports fans, Sportsradio 94.1 WIP changed from being an authentic talk radio station to saying what it can to remain publicly relevant.
Unfortunately, it is still working. Rage baiting is still effective in 2025.
Following the Eagles 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, WIP talked about whether or not quarterback Jalen Hurts is going to be a legacy quarterback.
Don’t worry, the facts about Hurts are there – WIP just doesn’t want to hear it. Like what kind of poll is this?
But months later, even though we can be discussing the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the NBA Draft, or the Phillies, or even the dumpster fire Flyers…we’re debating putting Hurts in a Top 11 Philadelphia athletes list.
Any normal flagship radio station would celebrate the Eagles’ second Super Bowl win, but unfortunately, ratings matter much more for the station – and it makes sense given Audacy’s financial situation.
