So after long speculation of where Rodgers will go or if he’ll retire, he finally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday afternoon.
The four-time MVP has agreed to be the next starting quarterback for Pittsburgh, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
To make matters better, Rodgers will make his regular season debut in the yellow and black against a familiar team: the New York Jets on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
Even though it didn’t work out, the 41-year-old will join the Steelers organization that is looking to end its 17-year Super Bowl drought.
Fans were quick to respond to the blockbuster move.
“Steelers never wavered in their belief that Aaron Rodgers eventually would sign with Pittsburgh. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin loomed large in this entire situation.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X. “Tomlin was a drawing card for Rodgers, and was happy to work within Rodgers’ timeline. He is a major reason that Rodgers will be a Steeler.”
