Pennsville Memorial High School athletes had a strong showing across multiple sports this week. Girls basketball advanced in the NJSIAA Group 1 Tournament with a 70-56 first-round win over Woodbury, powered by a 23-point third quarter. Taylor Bass led with 22 points and three steals, while Nora Ausland added 13 points and 17 rebounds. They will face Wildwood in the quarterfinals on March 1.
In wrestling, Brett Land (106 lbs) dominated his bracket, winning by forfeit in the quarterfinals, securing a 10-2 major decision in the semis, and claiming a 15-0 technical fall victory in the finals. Connor Ayars (190 lbs) took second after falling to Delsea’s Greg Sawyer. Land, Ayars, and Gabe Supernavage will compete at regionals starting February 28.
On the track, Colin McGlinn placed 11th in the Boys 55-Meter Dash Prelims at the NJSIAA Tournament (6.86), while Megan Morris finished sixth in Girls Pole Vault with a 9-0.6.00 mark. Morris will advance to the Meet of Champions on March 2.
