Seriously, be for real Eagles fans and NFL fans. This is a team with nine consecutive wins, who otherwise would not have gotten there if not for great locker room culture.
Stay with me now.
All this talk about A.J. Brown’s “passing” comment following a narrow Eagles win over the Panthers is absurd.
I’m here to tell you, in case no one else did already, you’re insane.
It’s very clear the Eagles have a passing problem. But they didn’t two seasons ago, why? Because you all booed and yelled for Coach Sirianni to “run the ball.” It’s okay to admit it, I was in that crowd, too. And now that they have a respectable run game and leveled-up team, you’re complaining about the pass.
I’m not saying I disagree, I don’t think there’s a Super Bowl team if they’re not near-perfect, and the Eagles aren’t there.
Look at the Eagles second half of last season up until after the bye week this season. You can’t go from one point to the other without an attitude change in the locker room. And I’m sure that starts with the leaders, like Hurts and Brandon Graham.
There was a lot of comments from the NFL world of couch coaches questioning Hurts’ future as if the guy hadn’t taken the Eagles back to the Super Bowl after five years. Without fail, by the way, the Eagles have made the playoffs every year in the Sirianni-Hurts era.
Something about that is not screaming “locker room issue” – at least, not big enough to just worry about it.
The Eagles have to run like a well-oiled machine because, let’s face it, the rest of the NFL kind of hates them. Is it because they refused to go to the White House after their Super Bowl win? Or are we still doing the snowballs at Santa Claus thing?
Because they have to run like this, they’ve got to be specific about the information they give out.
Not to mention, they’ve literally addressed in press conferences that they can’t give out too much leading up to a game.
For starters, so many NFL fans are emotional (Plus – see why so many NFL fans are emotional wrecks.) So any small movement by the Eagles and the rest of the NFL has enough content for the week.
Think back to the Jalen Hurts ankle thing earlier this season. I doubt he was 100% every game, and that his ankle was bothering him. But by not really giving out that information, no one else can run with it.
All A.J. Brown’s comment did was just give journalists something different to write about. It should not sound like the end of the world because it really isn’t. What power duo do you know of that hasn’t had uncomfortable conversations and butting heads? Probably not many.
Brandon Graham’s comments, though he really shouldn’t have spoken especially if he was confused about the situation (media training?)
And 94.1 WIP was able to feed on this energy which in turned caused a wildfire of news headlines talking about the “fall of the Eagles locker room.”
I implore NFL fans, media and specifically all of Philadelphia to just relax. Let the Eagles do their thing and stop feeding into anything the media can run with. It’s exhausting.
