The research, conducted by gaming site Rainbet.com, analyzed the data of 18 factors, including prices of jerseys, caps, hot dogs, beer, and ticket prices for each NFL team. Each factor was assigned a weighting, and the total score for the factors was calculated, producing an overall index score out of 100 for each entry, on which the final ranking was based, with the highest score being the most affordable.
The Arizona Cardinals are the most affordable team to support, with an overall index score of 78.42 out of 100. The home game ticket average lowest price (or the average price to “get through the door”) is $75.67, and the cheapest available ticket all season was $32.
Fans of the Phoenix-based team can find men’s jerseys for an average price of $119.63, while women’s jerseys cost an average of $112.54. Supporters on a budget can still show their love for the Cardinals by buying a cap, at $29.75 for a men’s adjustable cap, $30,99 for a women’s adjustable cap, or $26.28 for a youth adjustable cap.
The next most affordable team to support is the Atlanta Falcons, with an overall index score of 73.70. Supporters will find the merchandise for the team pricier, with the average price of men’s and women’s jerseys hitting $138.89 and $126.24, respectively.
However, fans looking for refreshment will be relieved to hear that they can still get change from a ten-dollar bill at a Falcons home game. The smallest available beer can be purchased for $5, and a hotdog only costs $2.
In third place is the Washington Commanders, which has an overall index score of 72.37. Ladies who want to show their support for the Commanders can pick up an adjustable cap for less than $30 ($29.96) but men will have to pay a little more ($30.37).
Fans may want to consider filling up before heading out to watch the game, as hot dogs will cost $6.50 and a small beer $7.
Next up is the Carolina Panthers, with an index score of 70.07. Football fans can get in the door for an average price of less than $100 (home game ticket average lowest price is $91.25, and the cheapest ticket available all season was $27). The littlest fans can show their support for the Panthers, with infant and toddler jerseys available for under $20, with an average price of $16.99 and $15.99.
The Tennessee Titans is the fifth most affordable NFL team to support, with an overall index score of 65.05 out of 100. The beer and hot dog prices are a little steep compared to other entrants on this list ($11 for the smallest beer available and $6.50 for a hot dog).
In sixth place is the New England Patriots, with an overall index score of 64.15. Getting through the door for a Patriots game is more expensive than any other team in this top ten listing (home game ticket average lowest price is $147.63) but their jerseys are among the cheapest. Young supporters can pick up a youth jersey for an average of $49.08.
Following on in seventh place is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with an overall index of 63.14. The average price to get through the door at a Buccaneers home game is a flat $100, with the cheapest available home game ticket all season $50. Hungry football fans will be dismayed to hear they’ll have to shell out $8 for a hot dog, among the most expensive in this listing.
Ranking eighth is the New York Jets, with an overall index of 62.86. On average, New York Jets fans can get through the door of a home game for just under $120 ($119.50 on average) with the cheapest available home game ticket all season $88.
The penultimate entrant is the Denver Broncos, with an overall index of 61.89. The average price to get through the door or a Denver Broncos home game is $132.38, and the cheapest available home game ticket all season $82.
Finally, rounding off the top ten is the New Orleans Saints, with an overall index of 61.58. The Saints offer the lowest average price to get through the door for one of their home games, at $62.11, although the team with the lowest priced ticket available all season is the Carolina Panthers ($27).
Despite ranking in the top 10 most affordable NFL teams to support, the New Orleans Saints have expensive beer, matched only by the San Francisco 49ers, at $12 for the smallest beer available.
On the flip side, the priciest NFL team to support is the Philadelphia Eagles, with an overall index score of 23.14. Supporters will pay top dollar for merchandise, with jerseys costing an average of $53.12 to $145.10 and caps priced from $21.99 to $44.76
The next priciest team to support is the Detroit Lions, with an overall index score of 23.14. Lions fans shell out for the highest average ticket costs, with the average price to get through the door at $326.11. However, fans can take consolation in the lower beer and hot dog prices. The smallest beer available costs $5, and a hot dog $6.50.
