With the release of the Sims-Switch partnership “MySims: Cozy Bundle,” it’s a very nostalgic time for a specific group of gamers. MySims is Nintendo spin-off of the Maxis “The Sims” franchise, but in a much cuter, Animal Crossing-esque way.
The overarching storyline of the main “MySims” game is to help redevelop a rundown town after a Sim with magic powers, called “essences” moved away. With creative elements and lots of building in the game, players help restore a town with different businesses like a pizza shop, nightclub, library and even some Sims moving in to become friends.
In “MySims Kingdom,” a fan-favorite being added to the Switch bundle, the same rules apply, except you restore an entire kingdom with different islands being part of the storyline.
One game that didn’t make the final production cut was “MySims Sports.” This game, a version quite like “Wii Sports” would have included tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing. The game also features training and fitness modes that monitor players’ progress in the sports.
Unfortunately, the game never hit the shelves, and it was a missed opportunity to engage the soon-to-be popular e-sports crowd. Because of the dying popularity of the Wii and DS, the game was never released.
There is good news.
With the anticipation of “My Sims: Cozy Bundle,” sales more than likely will be high. If there’s a demand for the return of MySims, then we could see “MySims Sports” in the future.
