PHILADELPHIA, PA- August 22, 2024: Former Philadelphia Eagle and current Browns safety, Rodney McLeod Jr, and Erika McLeod, his wife and co-founder of  the Change Our Future Foundation, are teaming up once again with Barbers Who Care, Inc., to provide kids with free haircuts, school supplies, sneakers, and more at the Barbers Who Care 15th Annual Back-to-School Giveback this Sunday!

The annual event will provide free haircuts for hundreds of Philadelphia Area kids between the ages of 5-17, along with free backpacks, sneakers, school supplies and other necessities this Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 10am-3pm at the West Philadelphia YMCA, located at 5120 Chestnut St, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The McLeod’s Change Our Future Foundation will be providing 600 new book bags and school supplies again this year for students at the event while a team of nearly 30 area and celebrity barbers from Barbers Who Care get kids ready for the new school year with fresh haircuts and renewed confidence!

Kenny Duncan, CEO and co-founder of Barbers Who Care, is a Celebrity Barber and owner of the Main Attraction Unisex Salon in West Philadelphia. Duncan, who has worked with stars including Michael B. Jordan, Zayn Malik, and Joel Embiid, and is the official barber of the 76ers, brings together barbers from across the Greater Philadelphia Area at this annual event to donate their time and expertise to help kids look their absolute best.

“A fresh Haircut helps build self-esteem, and good self-esteem yields the confidence these kids need to succeed in school,” said Ducan.

For more than a decade, Duncan and the barbers have been using their skills to help provide kids and teens with quality haircuts just in time for a new school year, while helping provide some financial relief for parents, especially those with multiple children, at the annual back-to-school event.

For the second year in a row, Rodney and Erika McLeod, through their Change Our Future Foundation, will provide an extra level of support for kids and parents by providing hundreds of new book bags and a variety of school supplies for Philly Area kids attending the event!

“A haircut and some new school supplies may seem like a small gesture, but it has a big impact on these kids and families. Our goal is to ensure every child shows up confidently ready to excel in the classroom this year,” said Rodney McLeod.

“Change our Future is excited to partner with Barbers Who Care for this special event again this year,” added Erika McLeod. “You can see the impact this event has on kids and teens from their smiles and the shift in confidence from when they enter the gym to when they leave.  We’re honored to play a role in this wonderful event that helps kids get what they need to succeed.”

McLeod, a 13-year NFL veteran safety, played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2017-2021. The Eagles’ 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee holds a special place in his heart for the Philadelphia community and a continued commitment to making a positive impact on kids and families in Philly.

McLeod has been giving back to communities across the country since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2012.  The Cleveland Browns’ NFL safety has posted career numbers with the Rams (2012-15), Eagles (2017-21), Colts (2022) and the Browns (2023-2024). Rodney and Erika founded the Change Our Future Foundation to make a difference in the lives of youth by creating developmental programs that seek to remove barriers and labels placed on underserved communities and empower young people through education, advocacy, and awareness.

Barbers Who Care and Change Our Future invite families and kids/teens in-need to join them for free haircuts, school supplies, and more, at the 15th Annual Back-to-School Giveback this Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 10am-3pm, at the West Philadelphia YMCA.

Over the past 14 years, Barbers Who Care have collectively serviced more than 3,000 youth with these special haircutting events.  In addition to the McLeod’s Change Our Future Foundation, this year’s Back-to-School Event partners include UnitedHealthcare, the West Philadelphia YMCA, and a host of talented, well-respected celebrity barbers throughout the city including Mike Monroe, P. Michael, and several others.
