The NFL unofficially kicked off on Thursday, August 1 with the Pro Football Hall of Fame game between the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears. On their opening drive, the Texans managed a touchdown with a Mills-Quitoriano completion.
Let’s check out the first half good, bad, and ugly.
The Good: Davis Mills. I’m really liking what I see from this Texans quarterback. He’s going to be a solid backup if C.J. Stroud is out during the season. In his first half, he had quite a bit of impressive throws and completions.
The Bad: The Bears slow start. Slow starts in the NFL is like digging an early grave, you need to snag that momentum and answer when your opponent scores on its opening drive. I would err on the side of caution with the Bears offense until we see what the starters can do.
The Ugly: Bears flags in the first half killed the team’s momentum. Sure, it’s preseason and new guys are getting time on the field, but I’m not accepting that excuse especially as the Texans managed no flags in the first half.
