We need to stop giving attention to these NFL storylines

Before we get ahead of ourselves for the upcoming NFL season, let’s stop and think. We know what teams are going to excel, we know what ones are going to fold and we’ll be surprised by a few. The same can be said about the players.

But we need to be real with ourselves: some storylines are just not going to happen. Let’s debunk some storylines that need to die before the season begins.

“It’s the Cowboys year.”

Let’s be actual real with ourselves for a second. On the off chance the Cowboys snatch the NFC East division title, because they’re more than capable of doing so, they still have to face some great NFC playoff teams. The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers are two key dominating teams in the NFC right now, both of which have the capability to beat the Cowboys. If the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl, they will struggle against the AFC. If you think the Lions or 49ers are a challenge, the Chiefs, Ravens, Bengals and Bills are far harder to compete against.

“Bills are in the Super Bowl mix.”

I know what I just said, but we also need to think logically about the fact that the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl window has officially closed. I hate seeing the team continue to be regarded as one of the core three AFC teams that always get mentioned for Super Bowl contention, but the Bills are just not that team right now.

“Taylor Swift gets shown too much.”

Before you read this, you probably forgot that Taylor Swift received some television time last season when the Chiefs played. This proves my point exactly, you genuinely do not actually care that much about a female pop star being shown cheering on her boyfriend. And if you actually do care, literally why? You must not care about football that much to complain about Swift, therefore it sounds like you’ll need a new hobby to take care of this issue.

“*Insert actual good player here* sucks”

Nothing grinds my gears more than when an actual decent player gets thrown under the bus time and time again when he was faced with different circumstances. If every quarterback in the NFL was like Patrick Mahomes or any if every center was like Jason Kelce, the game would be kind of boring. Each player deals with different highs and lows throughout the season, and unless they look like a shaky player on paper and on the field, there’s really no good argument for calling a good player, bad.
