A new study has revealed the best NFL touchdown songs. The study, by sports betting experts JustGamblers, created an index score by analyzing the data Spotify uses to classify songs, looking at the danceability, energy, loudness, and valence (how happy or sad a song is) to determine which NFL touchdown is the best.

In first place is New Orleans Saints’ When The Saints Go Rolling In by Fats Domino, scoring 79.23 out of 100. First recorded by the Paramount Jubilee Singers in mid-November 1923, New Orleans’ own Fats Domino helped popularize the song, helping bring it to the mainstream. Scoring ten out of ten for valence, this is by far the most positive song on the list, according to Spotify. The song also scores 6.06 out of ten for danceability, 8.08 out of ten for energy, and 7.56 out of ten for loudness.
In second place is the Los Angeles Rams’ The Next Episode by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, scoring 73.94 out of 100. The only song on the list to score ten out of ten in two different sections (danceability and loudness), The Next Episode, also scored 8.77 out of ten for energy but just 0.8 out of ten for valence, according to Spotify. As of writing, the song has amassed 960,761,386 plays on Spotify – working out to 4,904 years of being played constantly on repeat.
The Whip by Locksley takes the third spot on the list, scoring 68.76 out of 100. Used by the Denver Broncos as a touchdown song, this 2010 song scored 4.2 out of ten for danceability, 9.38 out of ten for energy, 7.59 out of ten for loudness, and 6.33 out of ten for valence.
Fourth place goes to the Buffalo Bills’ touchdown song, Fluxland by Ma. Bra., scoring 68.52 out of 100. According to Spotify, Fluxland scored 6.52 out of ten for danceability, 8.97 out of ten for energy, 9.07 out of ten for loudness, and 2.85 out of ten for valence.
X Gon’ Give It To Ya by DMX takes the fifth spot on the list, scoring 67.2 out of 100. Used by the Seattle Seahawks, this 2002 song scored 7.33 out of ten for danceability, 7.23 out of ten for energy, 6.94 out of ten for loudness, and 5.38 out of ten for valence, according to Spotify.
The remainder of the top ten features Pittsburgh Steelers’ touchdown song, Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones in at sixth place, scoring 67.06 out of 100. Detroit Lions’ Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars comes in at seventh, scoring 66.48 out of 100.
Eighth place goes to Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) by Fall Out Boy, which scores 64.09 out of 100
Ninth place goes to Party Up by DMX, scoring 63.93 out of 100. Notably, this is the only song in the top ten to be used by two teams, being used by both the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. DMX is also the only artist on the list to have two separate songs.
Arizona Cardinals’ Surfin Bird by The Trashmen rounds out the list in tenth place, scoring 61.7 out of 100.
Interestingly, Seven Nation Army by The White Striped was found to be the worst song, scoring just 30.52 out of 100. While scoring fairly well in danceability (7.15 out of 10), the song was let down by energy, loudness, and valence, scoring just 0.29, 4.39, and 0.37 out of ten, respectively.
A spokesperson for JustGamblers commented on the findings, saying:
“Across various genres and styles, touchdown songs have proven to be a significant aspect of fan engagement, team identity, and the overall game-day experience. These findings highlight the diverse preferences among both teams and fans and the unique emotional connections formed through music in the football context.”
