There’s Taylor Swift and Kanye West.

There’s Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

And then there’s LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson, a fiery pair of former Philadelphia Eagles players. The reason why they even have the title of “former” can be directed to the name of a coach who left a sour taste in Philly’s mouth.

Chip Kelly.

Kelly is a primarily college football coach with a short stint in the NFL from 2013-2016. In this time, there’s much debate about whether Kelly was mostly the problem, and how. Where some thought he was just the worst coach who made the Eagles fall into a pit of despair, others felt that he was just a self-sabotaging coach that could not figure it out in the NFL.

Overall, Kelly had an 81-41 record in college football coaching, but an astounding 28-35 record in the NFL.

In Kelly’s first year in the league, with the Eagles in 2013, the team finished with a 10-6 record thanks to backup quarterback and soon-to-be Super Bowl champion, Nick Foles. In that offseason, DeSean Jackson was let go from the team, disregarding his record-breaking NFL season and tenure with the team. The “Miracle in the Meadowlands” wide receiver was deemed to have a “poor work ethic and attitude” in addition to gang-affiliation, despite having no hard evidence for the allegation.

Essentially, Jackson was let go on an allegation, as he teases in the new episode.

“You released me off of allegations and that was a coward a– move,” Jackson said.

In an NJ.com article discussing the allegations, LAPD detective Eric Crosson tipped the Eagles about Jackson being involved with a murder, but the Eagles instead picked him up on a five-year deal.

In just the next season, Kelly went from hero to zero. He was given total control and made controversial personnel moves, including trading LeSean McCoy who had become the team’s all-time leading rusher after the 2014 season.

In the nature of the business, the Eagles traded McCoy to save money. But in comparison, you could look at that today as if the Kansas City Chiefs were to trade Patrick Mahomes to save money. Logically, it just doesn’t make sense. Sure, the Vick-Jackson-McCoy trifecta was unsuccessful in getting a Super Bowl under Kelly, but removing two players after having star seasons is simply unheard of.

“You didn’t send me to Buffalo because you thought it was the best move for your team,” McCoy said in the teaser. “You sent me here to die,”

Now, McCoy and Jackson have teamed up to spill the details about their experiences with Coach Kelly. In their 25/10 podcast, which dropped May 9, has them discussing the “raw, unfiltered story” about their former coach.

The 25/10 Show, which officially dropped an episode March 21 of this year, discusses McCoy and Jackson’s point of view on certain news and topics in the NFL.
