The National Football League started taking things internationally just a few years ago, but now they’ve begun their next venture: playing in space. With the idea of livability on Mars, the NFL is sold on playing in space. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke on the idea.
“I think this is great for the game,” Goodell said. “Playing in space means that fans can enjoy a literal out-of-this-world experience. It’s plausible that we could start seeing aliens being drafted on teams in future seasons,”
Given the strength and mobility of a typical alien, Goodell believes they would add an exciting element to the game. He expressed another idea for potential different NFL leagues across different planets, naming them “NFL Earth,” NFL Mars” and “NFL Mercury.”
This news comes after the NFL expanded its international markets, reaching Argentina, Colombia, Japan, Nigeria and South Korea. But, as Goodell mentioned, there could be room for more.
“The NFL is going to continue to expand,” Goodell said. “If aliens weren’t real, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” He joked.
