NFL 2023: NFL Honors – Most Valuable Player

Betting on the NFL Honors might currently be closed on BetMGM, however, it’s worth taking a look at the finalists for Most Valuable Player and who might be the potential winner.

Quarterbacks Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott as well as running back Christian McCaffrey were nominated for this award. I’ve made a case for each player below to win Most Valuable Player as well as my choice for the winner.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen

Regardless of the Bills being knocked out in the Divisional Round, Josh Allen helped the team once again in order to get there. He put up 385-of-579 passes for 4,309 yards, 29 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. With his help, the team finished 11-6.

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson had a chip on his shoulder this season and went out and delivered. After a brief hiatus from securing the division title, the Ravens are back in the playoffs, one win away from a Super Bowl trip. The team finished 13-3, partially due to Jackson’s great play. He went 307-of-457 passes for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His impeccable play allowed him to be selected to the Pro Bowl and First-Team AP All-Pro.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey

McCaffrey came over to the 49ers and literally carried the team to victory in a lot of ways. He had 272 carries for 1,459 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also went 67-of-83 catches for 564 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He helped the team get to a 12-5 record and helped himself to being selected to the Pro Bowl and First-Team AP All-Pro.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

Regardless of the Cowboys routinely scheduled first round exit in the playoffs, Prescott had himself a season with the team. The Cowboys improved to a 12-5 record, better than the season before. He went 410-of-590 passes for 4,516 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy

Purdy is another 49er that is getting a taste of the MVP action. Before helping his team back to another NFC Championship, Purdy put up 208-of-444 passes for 4,289 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl for his incredible play this season.

My Choice: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

If we’re basing this off of stats alone, it’s easy to say that Jackson has the best stats of any of the MVP nominees. I think he’s the most deserving of the award for getting the Ravens back to the AFC Championship.
