NFL 2023: Wildcard Round Over/Unders

The NFL Wildcard Round begins this weekend. The top 12 teams in the NFL will begin their journey towards the Lombardi Trophy. Right now on BetMGM, there are limited betting choices, but there are some interesting lines available.

Check out my favorite bets for each Wildcard Round game, courtesy of BetMGM.

Houston Texans vs Cleveland Browns

O/U: 44 (-110)

Bet I Like: Over 44 Total Points

I like this over because both team have averaged a handful of touchdowns per games this season. I like that both teams are in a Cinderella-type position who have the elements of a team that can shake up the playoffs. I look forward to seeing the Browns probably be the better team in this matchup, but the Texans are excited to be back in the playoffs in a year you otherwise would assume is a rebuild.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins

O/U: 44 (-110)

Bet I Like: Over 44 Total Points

These are two of the best teams in the AFC going head-to-head in the Wildcard. Of course there’s going to be scoring – and lots of it. Both offenses are incredibly talented and both defenses have also put in the work. I’m particularly excited to see Tyreek Hill facing his former team in what I would soon give an interesting anytime touchdown prop (wink wink.)

Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers

O/U: 35.5 (-110)

Bet I Like: Over 35.5 Total Points

With the Dolphins stealing the AFC East from the Bills, Buffalo is going to have an interesting matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is a low total in my opinion, because the Bills alone are managing 26.5 points per game. The Steelers will be fighting to keep the game close, so I think there’s a lot of value in even looking for a higher number – like in the 40s – to find betting value on.

Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers

O/U: 50.5 (-110)

Bet I Like: Over 50.5 Total Points

The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers are going to be a fun NFC game to watch. Where Jordan Love is gearing up for hopeful postseason success, the Cowboys have been in this position before. As the Cowboys are averaging 29.9 points per game this season, their opponents averaged 18.3. That’s scary low, but I think adrenaline will be high during the Wildcard round. For that reason, I think the Packers try to stay into this game, but the Cowboys defense will continue to work as we know how they can be.

Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Rams

O/U: 51.5 (-110)

Bet I Like: Under 51.5 Total Points

I’m not too confident in the over for this game. At 51.5, I don’t think either team manages to put up a lot of points. I say this because what we know with the Lions historic season should be attributed greatly to their defense. In the same light, I could say the same about the Los Angeles Rams. I think this game gears up to be a defensive-driven game. At least in recent years, these teams don’t have a ton of playoff experience, so I don’t expect a lot out of them.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles

O/U: 44 (-110)

Bet I Like: Over 44 Total Points

I like the over in this game because it hit in the last NFC Wild Card game when these teams faced off in 2022. Sure, the teams lost and gained a lot along the way, but I’m very confident that both teams will put up some points. The Eagles haven’t been the team they were at the beginning of the season, so even if that is the case, the Buccaneers might dominate much of this over total, like they did in 2022.
