The Rangers and Astros kick off the Championship Series of the MLB postseason Monday night at 8:15 PM ET.
Houston owns home field advantage, so the Rangers will have to work a little harder to try to get a win early on against the defending World Series champions.
Currently on BetMGM, the Astros are the favorite to take Game 1 of the ALCS at (-140). The Rangers are (+120) underdogs.
Take a look at some of the bets I’d place ahead of the Game 1 ALCS matchup.
Total O 7.5 (-155)
So far, the Astros have managed to hit this over in three of their four games this postseason. I don’t doubt that they hit this again tonight especially in the home crowd.
The Rangers, on the other hand, are also going to want to split at the Astros as soon as possible in the series so they’ll attempt to keep it close.
J. Verlander 5+ Ks (-190)
In his last postseason game, Justin Verlander pitched six outs. He’s since been well-rested and I think is due for another 5+ pitched outs. He’s more than capable of delivering tonight at home.
Astros O 3.5 Runs (-175)
Coinciding with the first bet, I think the Astros have a fiery game tonight. There’s no reason why I don’t think they get the over. So far this postseason, the Astros average about five runs per game, meaning this bet tonight should be easy money.
Y. Alvarez O 0.5 Runs (+115)
Take your pick, but I think Alvarez is a lock for the over runs scored tonight. He had a run in every game so far this postseason, and this number to still be plus money is insane.
