NFL 2023: Week 5 Preview

Week 5 is here. Check out the matchups below.

First & Jenn’s Game of the Week

Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 8:20 PM ET

Television: NBC: Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, Melissa Stark

Radio: Westwood One: Ryan Radtke, Ryan Harris

Notes: There’s a reason why this one is a primetime game. One has an unstoppable offense and the other has an immovable defense.

All-Time History: San Francisco leads, 15-14-1

Prediction: 49ers

First & Jenn’s Game to Skip

Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM ET

Television: CBS: Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta, Amanda Renner

Notes: Both teams come into this game kind of evenly matched but need a win before next week for very different reasons.

All-Time History: Indianapolis leads, 35-21

Prediction: Titans

Chicago Bears @ Washington Commanders

When: Thursday, October 5, 2023 @ 8:15 PM ET

Television: Prime Video: Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit, Kaylee Hartung

Radio: Westwood One: Ian Eagle, Ross Tucker

Notes: This feels like a red flag, must win game for both teams for very different reasons.

All-Time History: Washington leads, 23-21-1

Prediction: Bears

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Buffalo Bills

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 9:30 AM ET

Television: NFL Network: Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, Jamie Erdahl

Radio: Westwood One: J.P. Shadrick, James Lofton

Notes: The Bills have win momentum, but the Jaguars have the upper hand with travel.

All-Time History: Buffalo leads, 9-7

Prediction: Jaguars

Houston Texans @ Atlanta Falcons

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM ET

Television: FOX: Brandon Gaudin, Mark Schlereth, Kristina Pink

Notes: The Texans come in with a win and the Falcons come in with a loss. Ridder is also 4-0 as a starter at home, so this truly could be anyone’s game.

All-Time History: Texans lead, 3-2

Prediction: Falcons

Carolina Panthers @ Detroit Lions

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM ET

Television: FOX: Chris Myers, Daryl Johnston, Pam Oliver

Notes: The Lions defense is on a roll right now, but the Panthers badly need a first win of the season.

All-Time History: Carolina leads, 8-3

Prediction: Lions

New York Giants @ Miami Dolphins

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM ET

Television: FOX: Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilma, Shannon Spake

Notes: The Dolphins have been on fire this season and I don’t think that ends with the Giants.

All-Time History: New York leads, 7-3

Prediction: Dolphins

New Orleans Saints @ New England Patriots

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM ET

Television: CBS: Kevin Harlan, Trent Green, Melanie Collins

Notes: I truly just don’t see the Saints offense being able to match up against the Patriots defense.

All-Time History: New England leads, 10-5

Prediction: Patriots

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM ET

Television: CBS: Ian Eagle, Charles Davis, Evan Washburn

Notes: I think the Ravens continue to rise but the Steelers are going to face some trouble right now.

All-Time History: Pittsburgh leads, 31-24

Prediction: Ravens

Cincinnati Bengals @ Arizona Cardinals

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 4:05 PM ET

Television: FOX: Kevin Kugler, Mark Sanchez, Laura Okmin

Notes: I think the Bengals finally start moving back into the winning side?

All-Time History: Series tied, 6-6

Prediction: Bengals

Philadelphia Eagles @ Los Angeles Rams

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 4:05 PM ET

Television: FOX: Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen, Erin Andrews, Tom Rinaldi

Notes: The Eagles now face arguably their first defensive trouble of the season in the Rams.

All-Time History: Philadelphia leads, 21-18-1

Prediction: Eagles

New York Jets @ Denver Broncos

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 4:25 PM ET

Television: CBS: Andrew Catalon, Tiki Barber, Matt Ryan, AJ Ross

Prediction: Jets

Kansas City Chiefs @ Minnesota Vikings

When: Sunday, October 8, 2023 @ 4:25 PM ET

Television: CBS: Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, Tracy Wolfson

Notes: I don’t think the Vikings are a stable team this season and see the Chiefs capitalizing.

All-Time History: Kansas City leads, 1-0

Prediction: Chiefs

Green Bay Packers @ Las Vegas Raiders

When: Monday, October 9, 2023 @ 8:15 PM ET

Television: ESPN: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters

All-Time History: Green Bay leads, 8-5

Prediction: Packers
