What another week to welcome home a former Philadelphia Eagle.
Doug Pederson comes to the Linc this week with his team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, to compete against his former Super Bowl-winning team.
Unlike former players, Doug will hopefully be applauded and cheered on upon entering the stadium.
The Eagles will face a pretty good team, so here’s another supposed “test” for the Eagles. If they win, the Jaguars are just another team. If the Eagles lose, then it’s the end of the world for the Birds and the season is ruined.
Anyway.
The weather is a major factor of today’s game for both teams. The Eagles should run the ball, but the Jaguars have a fantastic run defense. The Eagles can throw the ball, but wind and rain will factor into how ball security plays out today.
What do the Eagles do? Secure that ball no matter what. Doug Pederson is no stranger to playing aggressive football, and the Eagles will meet their match when it comes to this play style.
Each week, the Eagles are faced with tests as if they’re playing a video game and they play against the boss level each week. When they defeat the boss, it’s almost as if it’s not *actually* the boss level. Their real test doesn’t lie in the hands of their opponents, their real test is themselves.
The Eagles need to be able to execute the same level of intensity they have been each week in order to remain the team they need to be if they make the playoffs.
The Eagles have enough talent to win this game, so there’s no reason for them not to go 4-0. Ball security, aggressive defense and second-half scoring should help the team win.
On the other hand, the Jaguars are very capable of winning the game for the sole reason that their offense is explosive and defense is unstoppable. Last week against the Chargers, quarterback Trevor Lawrence went 28-for-39 for 262 yards and three touchdowns. The team’s highest rusher had 100 yards and one touchdown.
Both the Eagles and Jaguars have a number of players inactive today.
Eagles Injury Report
Boston Scott (rib) is out for Sunday’s game.
Avonte Maddox (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game.
Jaguars Injury Report
Cole Van Lanen (hamstring) is out for Sunday’s game.
Shaquill Griffin (hip) is questionable for Sunday’s game.
Zay Jones (ankle) is questionable for Sunday’s game.
K’Lavon Chaisson (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game.
Both teams have great defenses, so I think it’s going to be a low-scoring team. I don’t think it’s going to be much of a concern for either team considering their standings, but it’s going to be a matter of how well the defenses can compete.
