Maybe you don’t want to leave the bustling Philly-South Jersey-Delaware atmosphere and stay within ten minutes of Wawa.
However, if you’re looking for a change of pace and add a little spice to your summer vacation, then “South of the Border” just might be for you.
Nestled on the South Carolina border, “South of the Border” is a world-famous rest-stop and attraction. Upon heading to the stop, visitors can find the large sombrero tower. It’s a Mexican-style town that has a pantry, gas station, places to eat and even a campground if you have to stay the night. Another fun part of the attraction is the mascot, “Pedro,” a big, happy man statue placed in the heart of the town-like attraction.
Visitors looking to stay just for a short time can take pictures with the mascot and other fun statues. There’s also a huge gift shop where you can buy anything you possibly need – and more – before hitting the road again.
Before leaving “South of the Border” make sure you sign your name and when you visited on the bigger statue of “Pedro.”
